Preparing matcha is a simple ritual that brings out its smooth flavour, vibrant colour and delicate froth.

Ingredients
- Matcha: 1-2 teaspoons (2-3g)
- Hot water (70-80°C): 60-70ml

- Matcha bowl
- Tea whisk (chasen)
Method
- Warm the bowl - Pour hot water into the bowl to warm it, then discard the water.
- Add the matcha - Place the sifted matcha into the warmed bowl.
- Pour the hot water - Slowly pour the water into the bowl, being careful not to pour it directly onto the matcha.
- Whisk - Using the chasen, vigorously whisk the matcha and water together in a quick zigzag or circular motion until a frothy layer forms on the surface.
- Serve - Once the matcha is smooth and a beautiful layer of foam has formed on top, it's ready to enjoy.
